Growing up in Chigwell, surrounded by the gentle English earthy tones of soft brown council homes and rich green foliage - I would create worlds of vibrant mystery and youthful romance. By combining purple and pink together, I spent my childhood creating magic with colourful, flowers, earth grown foliage, and a hoard of art supplies. Amidst the earthy tones of my home, I would dream of a blossoming universe where I would dedicate myself to celebrating the elegance and creativity of the lovely ladies who appreciate the royalty of the purple rose but didn’t have the luxury of expressing their love freely.
My first Etsy shop, CatherineMichelleR, was a tentative step into this unknown universe - a conjuring world where purple roses held the key to unlocking a woman's true feminine empowerment with elegance and creativity. I’d spend hours lost in my little world, transforming ordinary materials into enchanted objects – but it did not truly capture the enchanting universe I dreamed of. Until I stumbled upon Zazzle - The heart-shaped notebooks were a revelation! – a physical manifestation of the very designs I’d been dreaming of. It felt like a sign that I needed to fully embrace the whimsical, romantic aesthetic of my imagination. I purchased one for myself immediately and it felt like finding a missing piece of my heart. The change was instant and magical. That day, CatherineMichelleR transformed into MysticalRoseFavours, a name that captured the essence of my brand perfectly.
With Photoshop as my wand, I weave swirled flowers into gradient backgrounds, layering digital watercolours onto photographs, creating artwork that's as vibrant and multi-layered as my own dreams. The purple floral gift shop isn’t just a business; it’s a testament to ensure that every lovely lady who discovers MysticalRoseFavours finds the magic she deserves.

With Zazzle as our Production Partner, they ensure that their high-quality products are delivered to their customers safely with tracking available. I decided to become a designer for Zazzle once I rebranded from CatherineMichelleR to MysticalRoseFavours on September 20th 2023 since their heart-shaped products inspired my creativity and completely changed the direction of how I wanted to brand my artwork.

This helps us keep our Etsy shop open since Etsy was where I opened her first ecommence shop in 2021. Etsy was a great first boost into helping me discover my brand and experiment with my art-style and learn more about self-employment and growing an online business.

✿Artist, Owner & Founder✿
My name is Catherine, and I am the Owner, Artist and Founder of MysticalRoseFavours. i was born on the 25th December 1995 at 25 minutes past midnight at Auckland, New Zealand. I am an English Kiwi who's lived in the UK since I was three years old and have dreamed about becoming a successful artist for as long as I can remember!
My first inspiration came from looking at Vincent Van Gogh's 'Starry Night' oil painting and the story behind it was a huge inspiration and motivation for me, especially with how challenging and stressful my life would become. My dad once said that he remembered a time when we visited Whales and that I would sit out in the fields for hours just staring at the nature surrounding me. I guess it's not too different from what I do now and while I was growing up as I still also look out of my window during the night sky and just think to myself. I would draw and paint beautiful and colourful floral universes and cute cartoon characters onto paper with watercolour pencils and paints and I always wished I could live in such a magical and luxurious world.
I created my first online gift shop on Etsy on September 2021 after graduating from University of East London with a Batchelor of Arts in Photography. At the time I was a previous foster care leaver getting ready for full independence as of Spring 2022 before I was suddenly made homeless by social services as the pandemic forced them to close my case early without warning as the apartment they provided for me was temporally given to me while I continued my studies at University. However they deemed my vulnerable enough to require needing help to move into a new permeant apartment after I graduate with my degree but that I wouldn't need to make plans to move out until at least February 2022, unfortunately I was instead made to figure this out suddenly on my own and had to miss out on my graduation as I desperately tried to ensure that I had somewhere else to live. I ended up going to a shared housing accommodation until I was forced to move out of there too on January as they were only a temporary placement and if I didn't manage to get a new home then I would have to move into another shared housing accommodation. Thankfully I got extremely lucky and managed to find an old-fashioned 1960s apartment in Chigwell - and it was close by to the council house I lived in as a child!
I was welcomed with the familiar soft browns of the buildings and the rich greens of the foliage that I had to leave behind at 15 after my dad passed away and I ended up in foster care as I had no other family who cared to look after me. It was a bitter sweet reunion back to my childhood home. I tried for years to find work within Photography but unfortunately kept getting rejected until i decided to be self-employed instead as I needed to make money to keep this new apartment!
I lost my confidence with photography so instead I decided to try digital illustration and gradient backgrounds and quickly managed to create my own unique style of digital art and continued to experiment until i grew confident enough to start selling products online with my designs printed onto them. It wasn't long before I started to recreate my old long forgotten art-style of swirled flowers and colourful water-coloured backgrounds with this new digital format! It made me feel creative and free for the first time in over a decade after losing everything - my dad, my room, my hairstyle, my girly clothes and being forced to adapt to a new way of living that didn't suit me - where I couldn't be myself and i had to be whatever my many foster mothers demanded me to be! Which was pretty much to have short hair, tomboyish clothes, a lot of my personal items where taken away from me and I had to give up my vision of my future for what they deemed would be a more 'stable' carer!
Creating digital artwork with my familiar colourful and magical floral art-style allowed me to have a sense of freedom and control of my life again and I want that to be what makes me happy and successful. It brought back the magic and romanticism of my youth again but with a modern twist! it's the feeling that I wish to give to everyone who shops with MystcialRoseFavours!
